El Abraham Ancer Junior Open se celebrará del 7 al 9 de noviembre
ABRAHAM ANCER SE SUMA COMO EMBAJADOR DE JUNGLE
Ciudad de México, a 13 de octubre de 2025. – Con el objetivo de inspirar y apoyar a la próxima generación de golfistas en México y Latinoamérica, se presenta oficialmente el Abraham Ancer Junior Open, un torneo que llevará la energía y el espíritu competitivo del golf juvenil al Club Campestre de Torreón, del 7 al 9 de noviembre.
La competencia contará con el respaldo de JUNGLE, la plataforma digital líder en golf juvenil, que conecta a jugadores de todo el mundo con universidades y entrenadores en Estados Unidos, facilitando su desarrollo académico y deportivo a través de perfiles personalizados, herramientas tecnológicas de vanguardia y torneos avalados por la AJGA International Pathway Series (IPS) y el World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
El torneo tendrá como embajador al golfista mexicano Abraham Ancer, uno de los referentes del golf latinoamericano, cuyo liderazgo, disciplina y compromiso con el crecimiento del deporte lo convierten en una inspiración para miles de jóvenes. A través de esta iniciativa, en colaboración con la Federación Mexicana de Golf, el Abraham Ancer Junior Open busca dejar huella en el desarrollo de nuevos talentos y fortalecer su legado como mentor y promotor del golf en la región. Las inscripciones ya están abiertas, con cupo limitado.
“Ser embajador de este evento y de JUNGLE significa inspirar, guiar y conectar a la próxima generación de golfistas. Este torneo es una oportunidad para que los jóvenes vivan el golf en un entorno profesional, aprendan, crezcan y sigan persiguiendo sus sueños”, expresó Abraham Ancer.
Nacido en Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Ancer ha sido protagonista de la nueva era del golf mexicano. Campeón del Australian Open (2018), del WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational (2021) y LIV Golf Hong Kong (2024), ha representado a México en los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio 2020 y París 2024 y en la Presidents Cup, consolidándose como uno de los jugadores más consistentes y respetados del golf internacional.
El Abraham Ancer Junior Open será la quinta etapa de la exitosa primera temporada de JUNGLE, que comenzó con el Gaby López Open presentado por Esmark, celebrado en el Club de Golf México; posteriormente se realizaron el Nico Open presented by access, en el Club Campestre Llanogrande de Colombia y el Quito Junior Open en el Arrayanes Country Club de Ecuador; el Felipe Aguilar Invitational en la Hacienda Chicureo Club de Chile se jugará del 27 al 30 de octubre. “Es un honor sumar a Abraham Ancer a la familia JUNGLE. JUNGLE es la plataforma que conecta a jóvenes golfistas latinoamericanos con entrenadores y universidades en Estados Unidos, facilitando su acceso al golf colegial a través de un ecosistema digital integral. A través de estas membresías y torneos de alto nivel, las y los jugadores pueden construir un perfil deportivo sólido, enriquecido con estadísticas avanzadas, videos de desempeño y la información clave que los coaches
necesitan para evaluar su talento.
El Abraham Ancer Junior Open se jugará en la modalidad stroke play individual a 54 hoyos, con corte tras 36 hoyos. Los tres primeros lugares en cada división recibirán reconocimientos. Adicionalmente, los resultados otorgarán puntos AJGA PBE, con beneficios como exenciones completas para campeones y estatus estelar para los mejores clasificados.
Inaugurado en 1973, el Club Campestre Torreón se convirtió en el primero de la ciudad, destacando por su ubicación y diseño vanguardista. Con 18 hoyos, par 72 y una extensión de 6 mil 840 yardas, el club ofrece instalaciones y servicios de primer nivel, siendo hoy el referente del golf en La Laguna y el que reúne a la comunidad más activa de socios en la región. A lo largo de los años, el Campestre se ha consolidado como un punto de encuentro para cientos de familias laguneras, un espacio cálido y familiar que sus miembros consideran una verdadera extensión de su hogar.

México finaliza en cuarto lugar del Eisenhower Trophy del WATC 2025
La Selección Mexicana de Golf concluyó la actividad del Eisenhower Trophy del World Amateur Team Championships (WATC) 2025 en el Tanah Merah Country Club de Singapur.
Tras el último día de competencia, nuestro país se ubicó en la cuarta posición de la competencia con un acumulado de 559 (-17). El triunfo fue para Sudáfrica con un impresionante score de 547 (-29), le siguió Australia con 555 (-21) e Inglaterra cerró el podio con 557 (-19).
En la competencia individual, Eduardo Derbez finalizó como el mejor de los nuestros con un total de 280 golpes, 8 bajo par, que lo ubicaron empatado en la sexta posición. Le siguió Carlos Astiazarán en T28 con 288 (even) y Gerardo Gómez culminó en T46 con 291 (+3).
El sudafricano Christian Mass se quedó con los honores tras un abultado score de 266 (-22), que le dio ventaja de 10 golpes ante su más cercano perseguidor.
Con este resultado, se superaron las participaciones más recientes en el World Amateur Team Championships y se reafirmó a nuestro país como el mejor representante de América Latina en competencias de alto nivel.

MAAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships Return to Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course
EDISON, NJ (Oct. 6, 2025) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), Walt Disney World Resort and Arnold Palmer Golf Management have announced the return of the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida in 2026. In 2026, the MAAC will unveil a new championship format, separating the men’s and women’s championships for the first time in conference history.
Since introducing women’s golf as a sponsored sport in 1998, joining men’s golf – which was a charter sport of the MAAC, competing since spring of 1982 – the league has held its annual MAAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships simultaneously. 2026 will mark the first time in 28 years of MAAC golf that the championships will split and both the men and women will have standalone championship weeks at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course. The Women’s Golf Championships will run April 21-23, 2026. The Men’s Golf Championships will be played April 28-30, 2026.
The partnership also continues the MAAC’s collaboration with the Greater Orlando Sports Commission (GO Sports), which helps showcase the Orlando region as a premier destination for collegiate championships and sports tourism. Together with Walt Disney World Resort and Arnold Palmer Golf Management, the MAAC and GO Sports will work to elevate the student-athlete and fan experience while highlighting the growth of golf in the region.

Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course has hosted the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships a conference-high 15 times and Lake Buena Vista, FL has been the home of the championships annually since 2000. The MAAC Championships have previously been played on Magnolia’s greens in 2003, 2005-08, 2011-12, 2015-22, and 2025.
As one of the original Walt Disney World Resort golf courses which opened in 1971, the Magnolia course is a well-manicured, par-72 course that has all the earmarks of a top-flight course: elevated tees and greens, rolling terrain and a very popular Mickey Mouse-shaped sand hazard on the 6th hole.
Located across from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the course was originally designed by Joe Lee, and more recently redesigned by Ken Baker, and is aptly named for its more than 1,500 magnolia trees. With tee boxes ranging from 5,200 to 7,505 yards from the back tees, it is the longest of the four Disney golf courses.
Each hole now has a Disney theme and an inspiring quote from Walt Disney or golf legend Arnold Palmer. For instance, hole No. 6 is called “The Mouse Trap’’ and features Walt Disney’s quote “I hope we never lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.’’ Hole No. 15 is called “The Dinglehopper’’ in reference to the Disney movie The Little Mermaid with an Arnold Palmer quote that says, “It’s a funny thing; the more I practice, the luckier I get.’’
In all, the recent re-imagination that included the putting green, 18 brand new greens, and 4 completely re-routed golf holes, represent the most extensive redesign of the Magnolia course and the latest changes since 2015 when several enhancements were completed, including reshaping the bunkers.
