CIUDAD DE MÉXICO (7 de agosto 2025).- Con dos rondas disputadas en el Club Campestre de la Ciudad de México (CCCM), el brasileño Alexandre Rocha y el mexicano Santiago de la Fuente se colocaron en la cima del Mexico City Open II, evento inaugural de la temporada 2025-26 de la Gira Profesional Mexicana (GPM), ambos con un marcador de 130 golpes, 12 bajo par.

 

El experimentado sudamericano Rocha firmó una ronda de 63 golpes (-8) este jueves para igualar en la punta con De la Fuente, quien repitió la solidez mostrada en la primera jornada. “Estoy contento con cómo se ha desarrollado mi juego. El campo está en excelentes condiciones y mañana espero mantenerme agresivo”, comentó Rocha al finalizar.

 

Por su parte, el joven tapatío De la Fuente, quien ha tenido un gran 2025, aseguró: “Estar en la cima en este inicio de temporada es muy motivante. He trabajado mucho y quiero cerrar fuerte. Va a ser una ronda emocionante”.

 

El tercer lugar en solitario lo ocupa el argentino Aram Yeanidjeian, con 133 golpes (-9), acechando a tres golpes. “Todavía hay mucho golf por jugar. Estoy a gusto con mi desempeño y mañana todo puede pasar”, declaró el sudamericano.

 

Empatados en el cuarto lugar se encuentran Sebastián Vázquez y el campeón defensor José Cristóbal Islas, ambos con 134 golpes (-8). Los dos locales buscarán remontar en la ronda final en casa. “Jugar aquí siempre es especial, y estoy cerca. Mañana saldré con todo”, dijo Vázquez.

 

El Mexico City Open II reparte una bolsa de 1.8 millones de pesos y es parte del calendario oficial de la GPM, única gira profesional en México que otorga puntos para el Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

 

La ronda final se jugará este viernes con los líderes saliendo en el último grupo alrededor de las nueve horas. Se espera un cierre espectacular con múltiples contendientes y un clima ideal para el desenlace del torneo.

Como parte de las actividades previas al arranque oficial del Mexico City Open II, el martes se llevó a cabo el tradicional ProAm, una jornada de convivencia entre profesionales y aficionados en el espectacular campo del Club Campestre de la Ciudad de México.

 

El equipo campeón de la competencia fue el encabezado por el profesional argentino Mauro Baez, acompañado por los aficionados Carlos Vázquez del Mercado, Leopoldo Leyva, Francisco Canal y Fabián Espriu. En segundo lugar finalizaron Enrique González, Julio Riviera, Jorge Santiago Landa y Alberto Villa, liderados por el profesional Luis Felipe Torres.

 

La tercera posición fue para el equipo del venezolano Jorge García, quien hizo equipo con Maribel Saracho, María José Gazca, Juan Pablo Silva y Emilia Silva, completando así una jornada exitosa de integración y competencia.

STERLING, VA (August 6, 2025) – LIV Golf, the global golf league energizing the sport through team competition and innovative fan experiences, today confirmed its return to Virginia for the 2026 season. LIV Golf Virginia presented by Maaden will take place May 8-10, 2026, at Trump National Golf Club Washington, D.C., marking the League’s third visit to the Mid-Atlantic region and second time at the venue following a successful 2023 debut.

This past June, Robert Trent Jones Golf Club hosted LIV Golf Virginia presented by Maaden, where Torque GC captain Joaquin Niemann bested Graeme McDowell (Smash GC) and Anirban Lahiri (Crushers GC) by one shot for the individual title. In the team competition, Crushers GC, led by captain Bryson DeChambeau, secured their second team title of the season. The League now returns to the venue from 2023, where record crowds witnessed Harold Varner III claim the individual title and Torque GC raise the team trophy. Featuring rolling terrain, water-lined fairways, and dramatic sightlines along the Potomac River, the course demands precision from the sport’s very best.

The LIV Golf field is comprised of 14 major champions with a combined 28 major championships, bringing many of the sport’s biggest names to Virginia once again. In addition to Niemann, McDowell, Lahiri, and DeChambeau, fans can expect to see Brooks Koepka (Smash GC), Phil Mickelson (HyFlyers GC), Cam Smith (Ripper GC), Dustin Johnson (4Aces GC), Jon Rahm (Legion XIII), and many more competing throughout the three-day event.

LIV Golf Virginia presented by Maaden is the seventh stop already confirmed for the 2026 season and is part of the league’s global 14-event schedule. It joins a growing list of events that includes Riyadh (February 5-7), Adelaide (February 13-15), South Africa (March 20-22), Mexico City (April 17-19), UK by JCB (July 24-26) and Singapore (March 13-15), with new and returning venues still to be unveiled for 2026. Las Misiones, Monterrey – 4 de agosto de 2025

Este lunes vivimos una gran jornada en Las Misiones Club Campestre de Golf, donde se llevó a cabo la Etapa 15 del Ranking Profesional de Golf 2025. En medio de un campo espectacular y un ambiente de compañerismo, el protagonista fue Diego Nieto, profesional del club sede, quien firmó una ronda de 67 golpes y se quedó con el primer lugar.

El segundo puesto fue para Luis Lozano, del Club La Herradura, con una ronda de 73 golpes, y el tercer lugar estuvo muy peleado, con un triple empate entre Alejandro Nieto (Las Misiones), Eliseo Buendía y Uriel Rodríguez (también de La Herradura), todos con 74 golpes.

Fue un día especial para todos los que formamos parte del ranking. Nos emociona ver cómo el nivel de competencia sigue creciendo y cómo cada etapa se convierte en una oportunidad para convivir, aprender y seguir fortaleciendo este espacio que es de todos.

Las Misiones, nos recibió con un campo en excelentes condiciones y una atención impecable. Gracias al club y a todo su equipo por ser grandes anfitriones y por hacer posible esta experiencia.
