Mexico City, Mexico (Tuesday, 29 July 2025) – LIV Golf, the global golf league energizing the sport through team competition and innovative fan experiences, has announced its return to one of Latin America’s most iconic venues. LIV Golf Mexico City 2026 will be staged from 17-19 April at the historic Club de Golf Chapultepec, marking the league’s fourth visit to Mexico, and second to the country’s capital of Mexico City.

The 2025 edition delivered one of the most exciting finishes of the season, with Torque GC captain Joaquin Niemann capturing the individual title and Legion XIII, captained by Spanish star Jon Rahm, sealing a dominant team victory. The 2026 tournament will once again see 54 of the world’s best players battle it out across three days of high-energy action in front of one of the league’s most passionate fanbases.

LIV Golf Mexico City will serve as a featured event for Torque GC. Along with 2025 season points leader Niemann (Chile), the roster currently boasts Carlos Ortiz (Mexico), Sebastian Muñoz (Colombia) and Mito Pereira (Chile), a quartet that has fast become one of the league’s most exciting teams representing the best of Latin American golf. The event will also feature Mexican star Abraham Ancer of Fireballs GC, led by Spanish legend Sergio Garcia. With strong regional representation and growing support across the Americas, LIV Golf Mexico City has quickly established itself as a key event on the league’s global calendar.

LIV Golf announces multi-year commitment to south Africa with debut event for 2026 season

Rocester, United Kingdom and Johannesburg, South Africa (Saturday, 26 July 2025) – LIV Golf, the global golf league energizing the sport through team competition and innovative fan experiences, today announced Steyn City in Johannesburg is set to host the first-ever LIV Golf South Africa from 20-22 March 2026. A multi-year commitment, the announcement represents a landmark moment for the League as it expands to the African continent for the first time, extending LIV Golf competition to five continents across the globe.

Early bird tickets for LIV Golf South Africa are now available for purchase at LIVGolf.com/southafrica2026, including a select number of Club 54 Hospitality Tickets and three-day Ground Passes to enjoy a festival of world-class golf, live music, and family-friendly experiences.

The tournament will spotlight Stinger GC, the league’s all-South African team, captained by 2010 Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen and featuring fellow countrymen Dean BurmesterBranden Grace, and 2011 Masters Champion, Charl Schwartzel. The team is expected to enjoy strong home support in March, as they compete for both individual and team titles in a field of 54 of the world’s best players across three days in front of passionate local fans.

Kurt Kitayama capturó esta tarde su segundo título en el PGA Tour

En el PGA Tour, el estadunidense Kurt Kitayama capturó esta tarde su segundo título en el PGA Tour, al haber podido frenar exitosamente la fuerte arremetida de un enrachado Sam Stevens, quien pese a que le puso toda la presión al ganador, no logró su objetivo de conquistar su primera victoria en el circuito. Fue un final no exento de drama, ya que para lograr su triunfo, Kitayama estuvo forzado a ejecutar un golpe extraordinario, desde una posición muy incómoda desde un bunker, que finalmente le aseguró el par que le dio el título en el 3M Open, por solo un golpe de ventaja. Respondió el estadunidense y así se coronó campeón en el torneo de Minnesota, en lo que fue su segunda victoria, luego de su resonante victoria en el Arnold Palmer Invitational en 2023. Fue una tercera vuelta impresionante de 60 golpes, once-bajo par, que encarriló a Kitayama rumbo al título.

Sus parciales fueron de 65-70-60-65 para score de 261 golpes, 23-bajo par. Cabe agregar que los nueve de ida fueron un gran trampolín para haberse quedado con el trofeo, ya que en sus dos recorridos finales, Kitayama anotó 28 y 29 golpes, respectivamente, el sábado y el domingo. Su 60 fue especialmente explosivo, ya que se encendió con doce birdies y solamente sufrió un bogey. También cabe decir que el hoyo 17 se le indigestó al ganador, ya que en sus dos rondas finales cometió bogey en este hoyo. Pese a ello, pudo concluir el torneo con uno de ventaja sobre Sam Stevens, quien estaba aferrado a capturar su primer título. Stevens finalizó solitario en el segundo puesto, con parciales de 62-68-66-66 para 262 golpes, 22-bajo par.

Enseguida, cuatro jugadores compartieron el tercer puesto, Matt Wallace (64), David Lipsky (64), Pierceson Coody (67) y Jake Knapp (68), cada uno con score de 264 golpes, 20-bajo par. Emiliano Grillo fue el mejor latinoamericano, con score de 269 golpes, 15-bajo par. Se ubicó en el vigésimo puesto. Jhonattan Vegas, el campeón defensor, anotó score de 273 golpes, once-bajo par, habiendo finalizado en el lugar 44.

En el Champions Tour, el irlandés Padraig Harrington logró el ansiado doblete, al llevarse este domingo el ISPS Handa Senior Open, disputado en la fantástica cancha de Sunningdale, en Inglaterra. Harrington, quien había conquistado su segundo U.S. Senior Open, hace poco menos de un mes, se mantuvo en la punta, pese al embate de Thomas Bjorn y de Justin Leonard, que presionaron con fuerza en la recta final pero no lograron su objetivo de impedir el triunfo del jugador de Irlanda. Con su mayor poderío, el campeón dominó esta fabulosa cancha con vueltas de 67-65-65-67 para score de 264 golpes, 16-bajo par. Realmente no tuvo algún momento de apremio en su recorrido final, lo que aprovechó perfectamente para trazar su plan de juego.

Así, Harrington embocó espectacular águila en el hoyo uno y posteriormente agregó birdies en los hoyos 6, 9 y 14, contra solamente dos bogeys (8, 17). No dio opción a sus rivales para que abrigaran alguna esperanza y concluyó así con la conquista de su tercer título mayor en la gira de veteranos. Previamente, el de Irlanda había triunfado en el U.S. Senior Open, en 2022 y en este 2025. Al lado de Miguel Angel Jiménez y Angel Cabrera, ha hecho una apuesta para ser otro de los jugadores dominantes en esta temporada. Su gran poderío aun le permiten competir en torneos del DP World Tour y del PGA Tour.

Thomas Bjorn (67) y Justin Leonard (68) empataron en el subcampeonato, cada uno con score de 267 golpes, 13-bajo par. Ninguno presentó una seria amenaza para el campeón en la recta final, algo que le facilitó el trabajo al también ganador del Open Championship, en 2007 y 2008. Con este resultado, Harrington se une a un selecto grupo de campeones del Open Championship y del Senior Open. Ellos son Darren Clarke, Tom Watson, Gary Player y Bob Charles. Además, con este alcanza su segundo título mayor en la presente temporada y también se une al club de los múltiples ganadores de torneos en el año. El australiano Scott Hend terminó en el cuarto lugar, con 268 golpes, 12-bajo par.

Ricardo González en el puesto 24, con score de 277 golpes y Angel Cabrera en el 31, con 278 golpes, dos-bajo par. Por cierto, se registró un encuentro entre Cabrera y Rory McIlroy, quien andaba por la cancha de Sunningdale. Cabe recordar que el argentino dejó una nota de aliento en el casillero de McIlroy, en el día de la ronda final del Masters, que finalmente capturó el de Irlanda del Norte.

En el Korn Ferry Tour, el estadunidense Johnny Keefer se unió a Neal Shipley y a Austin Smotherman como múltiple ganador en esta temporada en el circuito de ascenso, cuando este domingo anotó una ronda final de 69 golpes, dos-bajo par, que fue suficiente para lograr el título en el NV5 Invitational, que fue disputado en Illinois. Keefer, quien ganara en el Veritex Bank Championship, está teniendo un gran año de novato en este circuito, ya que en apenas 16 torneos, ya posee dos títulos y solo ha perdido el corte en dos torneos.

Sumó parciales de 65-63-61-69 para score de 258 golpes, 26-bajo par, dos golpes menos que el subcampeón Jeffrey Kang, quien anotó vueltas de 65-63-67-65 para 260, 24-bajo par. Neal Shipley, quien es un múltiple ganador en esta temporada, apretó fuerte con recorrido de 63 golpes, ocho-bajo par, que lo elevó al tercer escalón, con score de 261 golpes, 23-bajo par; empató con Kensei Hirata (65) y Davis Chatfield (67).

El mexicano Emilio González no perdió posiciones en la clasificación, pese a que finalizó en el lugar 67, con score de 272 golpes, 12-bajo par. Ocupa el noveno sitio de la clasificación. Roberto Díaz, Álvaro Ortiz y Omar Morales no pudieron pasar el corte.

LPGA, la inglesa Lotti Woad, en su debut profesional, logró dar otro campanazo, esta vez al conquistar el ISPS Handa Scottish Open

En la LPGA, la inglesa Lotti Woad, en su debut profesional, logró dar otro campanazo, esta vez al conquistar el ISPS Handa Scottish Open, torneo del Ladies European Tour, co-sacionado por la LPGA por margen de tres golpes sobre la coreana Hyo Joo Kim, en la fantástica cancha de Dundonald Links, en Escocia. Las proezas que está logrando Woad en este arranque de su carrera profesional, han llegado a opacar lo realizado previamente por otras jugadoras que tempranamente tuvieron un gran impacto, como Morgan Pressel, Lexi Thompson y Lydia Ko. Más recientemente, pudimos presenciar de otro campanazo en su debut profesional, que sucedió hace dos años, cuando Rose Zhang ganó el Mizuho Americas Cup, en 2023.

La sueca Ingrid Lindblad, hace pocas semanas, también causó gran impacto al vencer en sus primeros torneos como profesional. Sin embargo, palidecen ante lo que está labrando Lotti Woad, exestudiante de Florida State, quien hace tres semanas capturó el Irish Open, todavía como amateur. Enseguida, fue a jugar el Evian Championship, torneo mayor del circuito, en donde se quedó a solo un golpe del desempate entre Jeeno Thitikul y la eventual campeona, Grace Kim. Y ahora, aprovechando su en el golf de paga, Woad deja con la boca abierta al resto y conquista su primer campeonato como profesional, su segundo campeonato nacional en tres semanas. Una verdadera hazaña en el golf femenil internacional.

Woad tomó la decisión de no terminar su carrera en Florida State, así que sacó el máximo provecho a esta invitación y salió con el título en la bolsa. Saltó a la fama el año pasado, cuando se llevó el título del Augusta National Women´s Amateur, en donde este año estuvo cerca de repetir, pero la suerte favoreció a la española Carla Bernat. Pero no solamente ha impresionado Woad por sus dos conquistas, sino el margen de victoria. Ganó en Irlanda por seis golpes y en esta ocasión, superó a la coreana Kim por tres. Sus parciales fueron de 67-65-67-68 para score de 267, 21-bajo par. Hyo Joo Kim, por su parte, ocupó el subcampeonato con tarjetas de 70-66-66-68 para 270 golpes, 18-bajo par.

El tercer puesto correspondió a la veterana Sei Young Kim (73) y la española Julia López Ramírez, cada una con score de 274 golpes, 14-bajo par. Nelly Korda, quien ganara en siete ocasiones en 2024, arremetió fuertemente en la ronda final, pero sus esfuerzos se esfumaron en los nueve de regreso. Cerró con vuelta de 71 golpes para meterse al quinto lugar, con 275 golpes, 13-bajo par.

Albane Valenzuela libró el corte, pero finalizó muy rezagada, con 291 golpes, tres-sobre par, en el lugar 57. Gaby López no participó.
Para esta semana, existe gran expectativa por la actuación de Lotti Woad en el AIG Women´s Open, el último torneo mayor del año. Se jugará en la cancha de Royal Porthcawl, en País de Gales.
